Lab Boat

Lab Boat

A full-scale research vessel used as a shared test platform for sensors, mission computers, and communication links. I maintained its ArduPilot navigation stack and handled motor tuning, radar integration, and telemetry for the groups that relied on it. I also presented a proof of concept at a demo day.

After Mr. Trash and the AESV, I was given responsibility for the Lab Boat, a full-scale research vessel shared across several innovation projects. It was the main platform for testing sensors, mission computers, communication links, and ArduPilot-based control. A shared full-scale boat has to stay reliable in real conditions while serving teams with different requirements, timelines, and test plans. I maintained the ArduPilot navigation stack, validated hardware interfaces, and handled motor tuning, communication links, and radar integration so each payload worked in the field. Consistent configuration and careful documentation let multiple groups rely on the same boat. I also built and presented a proof of concept for a demo day.
